Macphun is now Skylum, for PC and Mac
I have seriously enjoyed the tools offered by Skylum, previously known as MacPhun. Their Luminar has just been upgraded to the 2018 version and now it more than rivals other image editors. It has won the awards for best editing app the last 6 years.
The intuitive ways one can use the app or let it get used to your specific way of applying the app is grand, from choosing pre-created templates or actions to manually altering your settings which you may have been used to from Photoshop or Lightroom.
Where Adobe has largely stayed dormant, Macphun has kept their ear to the grindstone and listened to the creative input of all wonderful Photographers adding to the user-friendly and yet very powerful interface they have created.
I like how one can add multiple filters, effects and create a new setting, which given one can do that in LR yes, here it does feel more intuitive. Also the way once a setting is created we can create an overlay preset with either the same image or add another one is impressive in speed as well outcome.
Again most of it is possible in LR, yet when Skylum is going to add the Catalog capacity they have been speaking about I think we have an astounding contender for the crown for many years to come, given the people at Skylum keep listening and see where our creative professionals wish to expand. We’ll keep you posted and I do welcome your comments.
